DENVER (CBS4)- Thousands of people will pedal their way along a busy roadway in Denver on Sunday. But they won’t have to deal with the traffic because the road is only open to cyclists, walkers, runners and strollers.
It’s all part of Viva Streets, a one day celebration thanks to LiveWell Colorado and Bike Denver.
Sunday, August 12, 23rd Avenue will be closed to traffic between City Park and Colorado Boulevard and Fred Thomas Park in Stapleton.
The event is free and everyone is invited. There will be booths set up along the route that promote healthy living and physical activity.
Viva Streets kicks off at 10 a.m. Sunday and CBS4′s Evrod Cassimy will emcee the event.
Right before Viva Streets gets underway, Cassimy will lead walkers on a Fit 4 Colorado CBS4 Community Walk. The walk starts at 9 a.m. Sunday at 23rd and Kearney.
Everyone is invited. The Community Walks are designed to get people moving with small steps as a way to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.
